EUROPE'S SHOWPIECE FOR DRIP IRRIGATION IN VINICULTURE - PLANNED AND CARRIED OUT BY BJ IRRIGATION TECHNOLOGY

The project, which is part of the measures for reparcelling of the agricultural land in Franconia, was financed by subsidies from the EU, the Free State of Bavaria, the community of Sommerach as well as involved wine growers.

The final inspection in November 2006 went off to the fullest satisfaction of all involved parties. The installation obtains the water from the Main canal, which then has to overcome 70 metres in altitude and is filtered by two automatic backflow filters.

The area of 260 hectare is split up into seven irrigation segments with each segment moving 350 m³/h.
